Valentines Day 2017 saw a wave of support for action on climate change, with events taking place across the country where the public showed their love for wind power. And Exeter played its part, with renewable energy lawyers from Stephens Scown LLP creating a giant heart out of pinwheels near its office on Southernhay.
The UK-wide initiative is the brain child of 10:10, an organisation that champions community action on climate change. Last year it carpeted Parliament square in pinwheels to demonstrate public support for wind power in its Blown Away campaign.
Sonya Bedford, head of renewable energy at Stephens Scown explained why the firm got involved: “In 2016, a record breaking 25% of the UK’s electricity mix came from renewables, Stephens Scown played some part in this by assisting our clients to realise their ambitions in building wind, solar, anaerobic digestion and hydro generation sites. It is important that the UK continues on its path to decarbonising the energy system and wind, as the lowest cost energy resource, plays a strong role in this.”
