We’re delighted to announce that we have achieved another strong performance in the latest edition Chambers & Partners’ UK 2021 guide, an independent guide to the legal profession.
Recognised as one of the leading South West law firms, we ranked in 15 sections of Chambers & Partners’ UK 2021 guide, with three teams and five lawyers receiving Band 1 ranking. In addition, Managing Partner, Richard Baker, has received the accolade of Eminent Practitioner and Corporate (M&A) lawyer, Giles Dunning, has been recognised as an Up and Coming individual.
A total of 26 lawyers are ranked individually, including new rankings for corporate lawyer David Gebbie, and Sally Norcross-Webb and Simon Trahair-Davies for their work in the mining and minerals sector. Ben Travers has received recognition for his work in IT law, as well as maintaining his ranking for intellectual property.
Chambers UK is an independent guide to the legal profession and its rankings are based on feedback from clients and other professionals. Despite having to carry out most of its research remotely this year, the guide still managed to gather 20,000 responses from clients and industry peers via phone research and online surveys.
Our family, agriculture and corporate teams have once again topped the rankings, with the family team being the only Band 1 firm ranked in both Devon and Cornwall. One client testimonial emphasised the “outstanding, timely advice and service,” and further highlighted the team’s “efficient yet personable mastering of genuine people centricity, at an individual level.” Three of our family lawyers – Liz Allen, Mark Chanter and Sarah Atkinson – have retained their Band 1 individual rankings.
Specialist in agriculture law, Kate Theophilus, has also maintained her Band 1 ranking, alongside property disputes specialist, Richard Bagwell, with Chambers stating that he “Continues to earn recognition and respect for his adept handling of complex contentious property matters for both public and private sector clients.”
Managing Partner, Richard Baker, says: “As a firm, one of our key objectives is to provide the very best client experience, so it is wonderful to receive such high praise in the latest Chambers guide. Every ranking is testament to the hard work put in by all our teams, as I know they have been dedicating even more time and energy this year to fulfil the needs of their clients while successfully managing the pressures presented by Covid.”
With over 300 staff, including more than 50 partners, across the South West. We have been ranked for six consecutive years in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For and enjoy top rankings in both the Legal 500 and Chambers independent guides to legal services.
