Known for its expertise in a variety of cutting-edge applications, and a global leader in designing advanced optical filters for tailored electro-optical systems and laser protection, as well as bespoke head-up display combiners, Artemis Optical has been sold with support from the Stephens Scown Corporate team.
Artemis works with customers to develop customised, system-enabling optical filters, mirrors, and pioneering helmet-mounted display patches. Their products cater to the diverse needs of customers, primarily in aerospace and defence, as well as in the industrial and life sciences markets.
Acting on behalf of the shareholders of Artemis Optical to see the entire issued share capital to Gooch & Housego, the Stephens Scown team of David Gebbie, Jade Kent, Tammy Burrows, and George Demirev worked tirelessly to ensure the deal was completed in short order.
Gooch & Housego is a specialist manufacturer of optical components and systems. With operations in the USA and Europe, it is a world leader in its field. The company researches, designs, engineers and manufactures advanced photonic systems, components and instrumentation for applications in the aerospace and defence, industrial, life sciences, and scientific research sectors.
With the Corporate team at Stephens Scown helping to conclude the deal, it will further enhance Gooch & Housego’s product portfolio and allow the company to offer both substrates and coating materials of the highest quality. It will also allow Artemis to access new customers and territories by utilising Gooch & Housego’s resources, expertise, and global reach.
The value of the deal comes in at £8.9m, with Nick Hurst, CEO of Artemis saying, “This acquisition represents an exciting step forward in the journey of our company. We look forward to continuing our growth with the Gooch & Housego group and realising the synergies that the opportunity brings. I’m grateful for the excellent work of the Stephens Scown team in helping us in completing the deal in a swift and timely manner.”
Jamie Pindard, general manager of Artemis also said of the Stephens Scown group, “As a team of legal advisors, you have all been incredible. You have made this whole process so much more comfortable than I thought it would be, despite some of the challenges we have put in front of you.
“You’ve always approached situations with a great legal and commercial balance.”
