In the latest example of South West law firm Stephens Scown’s culture being recognised on the national stage, the firm has been revealed as a finalist in the City AM Dragon Awards. The prestigious awards recognise businesses and organisations from across the UK that demonstrate a commitment to social responsibility and community impact.
Showcasing best practices and inspiring other companies to engage in meaningful community work, the employee-owned law firm, Stephens Scown, has been shortlisted in the category of Inclusive Workplace & Employee Wellbeing and is one of only four businesses in this category.
Stephens Scown’s shortlisting reflects its place on the national stage as an organisation that is proud to be focused on delivering real benefit to their employees’ wellbeing, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I), culture, and working environment.
Speaking about the nomination, Managing Partner Richard Baker said, “we work hard to make Stephens Scown a great place to work and to do business. We see the results of our endeavours every day and are committed to doing all we can for our employees.
“By caring for our employees, it makes the firm an attractive proposition for people to come and work, and for clients to come and do business. It’s a terrific reflection of our culture and our investment in people, and we can be proud of being shortlisted.”
Verity Slater, Partner in the Employment team and lead on the company’s Employee Experience strategic pillar said, “it’s really fantastic to be recognised in this National Award for Inclusive Workplace and Employee Wellbeing. Being a great place to work and looking after our people is a critical strategic goal for us and one we spend a lot of time thinking on and making happen in practice. Well done to all our employees for making this happen!”
Lucy Palmer, HR Director and ED&I lead, added, “we are delighted to be recognised nationally for our commitment to Inclusivity & Employee Wellbeing. We are passionate about fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace culture, and proud to see the positive impact that our colleagues have on our clients and communities every day.”
The awards are targeted at organisations and individuals demonstrating a commitment to the UK’s sustainability, social responsibility, environmental, social impact and governance, financial inclusion, financial literacy, circular economy and impact.
Speaking on the firm’s selection Christian May, Editor in Chief of City AM said, “we had nearly 200 submissions, ranging from large private business and FTSE listed firms to start-ups and social enterprises. The calibre was extremely high across all categories. There are only four nominees on the shortlist for each category, so you really have done well to get this far.”
With the awards held on the 18 November, it promises to be a great night for everyone involved.
