Modern Law Awards 2025 logos for winner and highly commended

South West law firm Stephens Scown is celebrating national success at the Clio Modern Law Awards 2025 after picking up an award for Corporate Social Responsibility and also came Highly Commended in the Client Care category.

Up against a strong field of fellow nominees, Stephens Scown emerged victorious, taking the prize for its efforts in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility. The firm was also highly commended in the category of Client Care (26+ Employees), praised for its commitment to customer service.

Attending the ceremony in Manchester, Verity Slater, Partner in the Employment team took to the stage alongside Megan Eaton from the Family team, who was herself shortlisted in the category of Rising Star.

Speaking about the result, Verity said, “Both categories are very close to my heart as until recently I was the strategic lead in the firm for client care and I’ve led on Corporate Social Responsibility since 2018, taking us through our ongoing B Corp™ journey.

“Thank you so much to my brilliant colleagues who work so hard on these areas to make our firm outstanding.

“We are also delighted that Megan was shortlisted for the Rising Star Award thanks to her dedication to supporting clients through difficult times, regularly going over and above in her work. Her shortlisting on a national stage is well-deserved recognition for her hard work.”

Managing Partner Richard Baker said, “It’s a real honour to win in the category of Corporate Social Responsibility, something which is key to our success as a business. Our commitment to doing right by our people and the planet makes Stephens Scown an outstanding place to work and empowers our people to provide excellent service to our clients, something further confirmed by our commendation for client care.

“To see Stephens Scown recognised on a national stage highlights that we are seen as a real powerhouse and I’m hugely proud of everyone for their continued support which made these achievements possible.”

The Corporate and Social Responsibility listing highlights work done both as a B Corp™ accredited company, and for Stephens Scown’s push to achieve Net Zero as part of its Net Zero Hero campaign. The firm placing equal importance on the values of people, planet, and profit as a core value was recognised by the awards panel.

The Client Care Award (26+ Employees) commendation emphasised the firm’s commitment to customer care and the service provided to clients. The continuous drive to improve its offer and to obtain feedback has been a key part of the highly commended result.
