The Government and many employer organisations recommend mediation as a means of resolving workplace disputes at the earliest stage possible.
The aim is to repair relationships and reduce the potential for disputes to drag on and cause irreparable damage.
Benefits of mediation
Mediation is also favoured by ACAS because it’s cheaper than litigation – not only in terms of immediate costs, but also in preventing high staff turnover, reducing sickness absence, recruitment and agency costs, and maintaining productivity.
The mediation process typically lasts between a half day and a full day. It is entirely confidential and can result in binding agreements.
