MIAM is the acronym of Mediation Information Assessment Meeting. This is the first meeting conducted by a mediator in order to assess whether the parties may be able to resolve matters through mediation. When instigating court proceedings, it will be necessary for the applicant to attend a MIAM before the application can be filed with the court, unless one of the exemptions applies.
