Lizzie is a partner in our Family team specialising in the financial aspects of relationship breakdown and has particular experience of cases with an international element.

She regularly acts for high-net-worth clients, business owners and those with complex trust, pension or farming assets, as well as those with international connections.

Lizzie advises on a wide range of family law issues including divorce, financial settlements, pre and post nuptial agreements, financial support for children, enforcement issues, freezing injunctions and protective relief. She also assists in respect of arrangements for children.

From an international family law perspective, Lizzie advises in respect of jurisdiction and forum disputes, financial provision after overseas divorce (Part III), cross border enforcement and the relocation or abduction of children. She has dealt with cases with connections worldwide including the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, China, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Slovakia, Singapore, UAE, Egypt, Caymen Islands, Ghana, Scotland and the Channel Islands.

Where appropriate, Lizzie encourages clients to resolve matters utilising out of court options. She is a trained collaborative lawyer and regularly supports clients through mediation, including across jurisdictions. Where this is not appropriate, Lizzie advises clients through robust litigation to obtain the best possible outcome.

Lizzie qualified in 2012, and is a member of Resolution, the national body of family solicitors. She is a Resolution Accredited Specialist in Advanced Financial Remedies (High Net Worth) and International Family Law. She is recognised in the legal directories as a key lawyer and one to watch.

Her recent work includes:

  • Securing a substantial settlement for a wife and child where the husband who was based abroad had sought to hide and dissipate assets and avoid proceedings.
  • Representing a husband where both parties were doctors in the NHS, resolving the financial aspects of the case by way of a solicitor-supported mediation.
  • Acting for a wife in financial proceedings, obtaining freezing injunctions to protect assets both in this country and abroad, including preventing a sale of property in the US.
  • Acting for a husband negotiating a settlement out of court where the husband was to retain the family farm and the wife was to retire from the farming partnership.
  • Representing a mother and wife accused of abducting her child to Singapore, dealing with all issues in respect of child arrangements, divorce and finances by way of an international mediation.
  • Acting for a mother in obtaining a Specific Issue Order that she be permitted to relocate from England to Sweden with her two children.

Outside of work, having studied music at university, Lizzie enjoys listening to live music or performing, as well as going to the theatre. She sings with the firm choir, the Rolling Scowns. Lizzie likes to make time for going to the gym, playing tennis, and is learning to play golf.
