The Rural Payments Agency (RPA) has recently published a reminder to farmers that they should make their 2016 Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) claims before midnight on the 16th May 2016.
A claim can still be made until midnight on the 10th June 2016, but if a farmer does not submit their BPS claim by midnight on the 16th May 2016 but penalties will be applied (apart from cases of force majeure).
There penalties are as follows:
- 1% of the value of the claim for each working day the application is late;
- 3% for farmers applying for new entitlements from the national reserve.
