The latest edition of Chambers UK, an independent guide to the legal profession, has been released and we’ve received top ranking.
With offices in Exeter, St Austell and Truro, Stephens Scown LLP is ranked in seventeen sections of Chambers & Partners’ UK 2020 guide, with four teams receiving band 1 recognition. Eight of the firm’s lawyers received band 1 ranking, and in total 25 lawyers are ranked.
Chambers UK is an independent guide to the legal profession and its rankings are based on feedback from clients and other professionals.
The top rankings came for the family, agriculture and corporate teams. The family team has band 1 ranking in Exeter and Cornwall and are complimented for “outstanding reputation born from hard work thorough preparation and commitment.”
The intellectual property team has also increased its ranking this year, with the team’s head Ben Travers described by a client as “a trusted partner for us on all intellectual property matters.”
Three family lawyers received band 1 ranking. Sarah Atkinson, partner and head of the family team in Truro receives band 1 ranking for the first time. According to one client quoted in the guide, “Sarah’s approach was friendly, calm and positive from start to finish.” Liz Allen, who heads the family team in Exeter, is described in the guide as “a real force to be reckoned with in terms of her legal knowledge and decision-making skills.” Senior consultant Mark Chanter is recognised as an “exceptional and talented family law solicitor.” Mark Smith, a family partner who specialises in cases involving children has seen his ranking increase to band 2.
Specialists in agriculture law are also named in the guide as band 1 lawyers. They are Richard Baker, who is also the firm’s managing partner, Kate Theophilus and Susie Murray.
James Keliher, a partner in the corporate team and property disputes specialist Richard Bagwell also retain their band 1 status.
