Spring is in the air, so what better time to get out and about to catch up with friends and enjoy all that Devon has to offer?
Here are five fun or relaxing things to do this spring:
- Treat your taste buds. The River Cottage food fair is back. There is an exciting line-up of chefs confirmed who will be taking to the main stage and sharing their culinary tips. Perfect if you’re stuck in a culinary rut with chef demos, artisan food stalls, kids’ workshops, talks, live music and foraging tours from River Cottage foraging guru John Wright.
- Enjoy a little luxury. Lympstone Manor, the hotly anticipated new hotel created by celebrity chef Michael Caines, opened for business this month. Impress your friends by being one of the first to dine – or even better, stay – at the extensively renovated Courtlands House, overlooking the Exe Estuary.
- Get into golf. It’s a great way to combine fresh air, exercise and good company. And it’s amazing how focusing on getting a little white ball into a hole can help you forget your cares. The sport is trying hard to shake off its stuffy image, so most clubs extend a warm welcome to new members and visitors – both male and female. Downes Crediton and Teignmouth Golf Clubs are among those running beginner courses as part of the Get Into Golf scheme. Find more information at: https://www.getintogolf.org
- Take a trip back in time. Plymouth History Festival is an annual celebration of the city’s history and heritage. This year, family events, guided walks, exhibitions and performances are taking place at venues across the city from Saturday, May 6, until Sunday, June 4.
- Explore your creative side. Join the UK’s designers in Bovey Tracey for a festival of craft the weekend of 9 June 2017. The Contemporary Craft Festival has become one of the most prestigious and much loved craft events in the UK. The Contemporary Craft Festival is a weekend event, packed with workshops and activties for all ages, craft demonstrations, children’s activities and entertainment, live music and festival food. http://www.craftsatboveytracey.co.uk/
