We are thrilled to have picked up four awards at the prestigious Cornwall Law Society Awards, in a glamourous evening at Truro Cathedral.
Celebrating the Best of Cornwall
At a black-tie event, the very best of the region’s legal firms and individuals came together to network and celebrate the strength of the legal sector. Stephens Scown was delighted to be nominated in a number of categories ahead of the event.
On the night, Stephens Scown won in each of the categories where it was represented. Laurie Trounce, joint head of the firm’s Corporate team won Commercial Lawyer of the Year. Anthony Booth won Commercial Property Lawyer of the Year, while Lexie Williams in the Firm’s Property Development team won Trainee Lawyer of the Year.
Talking about her win, Laurie said, “It is great recognition for the success of the Corporate team this year. I’m really proud of our achievements and this award not only acknowledges the strength and depth of our expertise, but also our work as thought leaders in helping to influence and support future business models which aligns with the Firm’s strategy and being a B Corp™.
“It also reflects the importance we place on developing junior lawyers within the team, which enables us to attract high quality work from the best businesses in the South West. I’m proud of what we have achieved as a Firm and individually, it’s great to celebrate the nominations and so many successes during the evening.”
Anthony said of the night, “It was a great evening, and the first one I’ve attended of its type. It was fantastic to spend time with the team and share in our collective success. Winning in all of the categories in which we were nominated says a lot about the Firm and the people who work here.”
Meanwhile, the award caps a remarkable year for Lexie, who was also named as one of Cornwall’s 30 under 30 for 2023. Speaking of her success, Lexie said, “A massive thank you to all those who have supported me both inside and outside of work. I genuinely wouldn’t be where I am without you.
“A huge thank you to Stephens Scown for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to realise my dream. Finally, thank you to Cornwall Law Society for presenting me with this incredibly special award – you have no idea how much this means to me.”
