Leading South West law firm Stephens Scown, which is employee owned and B Corp™ certified, has been recognised as Employer of the Year at the Business Leader South West Awards.
Held at Aerospace, Bristol, the awards celebrate the best businesses in the South West region by bringing together the most influential leaders in business, education and government. It recognises and celebrates business success, supported by the leading professionals and advisors from the area.
Reaching the shortlist in three categories was a fantastic achievement for Stephens Scown, and a demonstration of the outstanding work being done. The nominations came in the categories of Business of the Year 51+ Employees, Customer Excellence, and Employer of the Year.
Attending the event, Catherine Mathews, Board member and Dispute Resolution Partner, and Ellie Hibberd, Partner and Head of the Employment Team, took to the stage to accept the award for Employer of the Year.
Speaking after the event, Catherine said, “It’s fantastic to come away from the ceremony with a prize. Up against some terrific companies from across the South West, to be announced as the winner for Employer of the Year really is a special feeling and while it may be Ellie and I picking up the trophy, it’s won on behalf of everyone working at Stephens Scown who make a difference every day and make it such a brilliant place to work. We are all incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved.”
The judges were hugely impressed by the Firm’s approach to employee welfare and dedication to making Stephens Scown a great place to work, also confirmed by the Firm’s placing in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work list.
Managing Partner, Richard Baker, said of the awards: “Being nominated across three of the main categories in the awards shows the work that we do is a real acknowledgement of our efforts in client care and in employee wellbeing, and in wanting to make Stephens Scown a great place to work and to do business. We see the results of our endeavours on a daily basis, but to see that rewarded externally and for the judges to recognise our achievements is extremely gratifying.”
Hot on the heels of the Firm’s recent success at South West Media Insider Dealmaker Awards – Small Deal of the Year, the Exeter Living Awards Legal Category winners, and highly commended for Client Care in the Modern Law Awards, and also for Law Firm of the Year in the Modern Law Private Client Awards, the victory further enhances Stephens Scown’s reputation as a regional heavyweight, and a company that continues to thrive and grow.
