One of the South West’s leading law firms has received top ranking in the latest edition of an independent guide to the legal profession.
Stephens Scown LLP, which has offices in Exeter, St Austell and Truro, received band 1 ranking in three sections of Legal 500’s 2020 guide. Four of the firm’s lawyers have also been singled out for individual recognition, with two being included for the first time.
The firm’s top rankings came for the family, employment and commercial litigation teams.
Liz Allen, who is a partner and head of family, was again named as a tier 1 ‘Leading Individual’.
Kate Theophilus, who is a partner in the firm’s real estate team and a specialist in agricultural law, was highlighted as a ‘Next Generation Partner’.
Ellie Hibberd, a partner in the employment team and head of the firm’s HRExpress service was included as a ‘Next Generation Partner’ for the first time. Tim Lane, a solicitor in the firm’s corporate team was also recognised by the guide for the first time and is singled out as a ‘rising star’.
Legal 500 is an independent guide to the legal profession and its rankings are based on feedback from clients and other professionals.
Stephens Scown’s managing partner Richard Baker said: “Our lawyers work incredibly hard to provide the very best possible service to our clients, so to receive top ranking in several sections of Legal 500 and to have four of our lawyers singled out for individual recognition means a lot. These result matter because they are based on what our clients think of us.”
Stephens Scown has over 300 staff, including more than 50 partners, across its offices in Exeter, Truro and St Austell. The firm has been ranked for five consecutive years in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For.
